American International School of Singapore Summer Camp

The American International School of Singapore Summer Camp will be divided into week-long sessions that will bring new challenges and opportunities each week. Classes will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day, and students will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of classes covering areas as diverse as coding, cooking, language and cultural exploration, video game design, and field exploration of local ecosystems, with each week bringing exciting discoveries and challenges.

The camp is designed to provide families with a safe, convenient, and rewarding experience that will keep students physically and mentally active this summer. Through convenient bus service, experienced educators from the American International School of Singapore, and delicious lunches/snacks, unforgettable memories will be added to this summer for kids.

Kindergarten-1st grade

Active Eagles: the program includes athletic challenges, games, activities, sports, and swimming! Students will become stronger and more confident in each activity and overcome challenges.

Animal Adventure: students will visit the zoo and at the end of the visit make models of landscapes, perform animal theater, and share stories, poems, and posters about endangered species.

Creative Crafts: Through hands-on experience with a variety of materials, from clay and leaves to wood, rocks, shells and more, students will turn their imaginations into vibrant realities.

Gourmet Mysteries: students will engage in exciting hands-on and interactive, savoring the basics of culinary science, incorporating basic kitchen exploration, taste adventures, texture exploration, and baking magic!

Exploring the Ocean with Henri Matisse: Together we will learn about the French artist Matisse and his fun and colorful artwork, learn how to draw sea animals, make stop-motion videos using Matisse’s techniques, and create our own Matisse-inspired artwork.

Lab Rats: We will explore different exciting experiments such as exploding rockets, bouncy eggs and elephant toothpaste where students will learn to observe, compare and discover.

A Journey into the World of Psychedelic Words: Through jungle-themed activities, creative storytelling, and exciting games, we’ll help your child discover the joys of language while honing their communication skills.

Doll Making: Students will learn to make dolls using different patterns, different types of stitches and will have the opportunity to visit the Native Chinese Museum to learn more about clothing styles from the exhibits.

Engineers of the Future: students will participate in projects involving science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), building and creating with a variety of materials.

Fashion Jewelry: Students can express their personal style, unique vision and unleash their creativity through handmade pieces. Market Adventure: Learn about the commodity society and the relationship between supply and demand as young entrepreneurs display, sell and exchange their creative works. Cooking Class: Students will explore Western and Eastern cooking, learn cool techniques and experiment with different flavors.

Dynamic Magic: Students will delve into the fascinating world of stop-motion animation, exploring the intricacies of each frame and mastering the art of transforming still images into dynamic animated wonders.

SCIENCE TRACKING: This course will allow students to learn some basic concepts of higher science subjects ahead of time by conducting wonderful experiments using materials and ingredients from home.

LEGO: Explore robotics with Spike Prime, master basic coding principles, tell stories and create video games with Bloxels.

Reuse Magic: Beyond the simple act of reusing and turning old things into treasure, students will delve into the heart of sustainability and how their creative hands and engineering minds can make a positive impact.

WRITING CLUB: Students will use language and grammar to create short and long works of art, as well as play writing games, draw sketches, and complete a number of activities in preparation for writing.

Art: Students will delve into the importance of design and art through field trips and hands-on projects.

Card Game Design: Learn to design a board game or card game and play it with friends or family.

Creative Projects: Students will learn about arts and crafts, journal entries, and a variety of writing skills, will create a different project each week, and will have the opportunity to participate in a field trip to the National Gallery of Singapore.

Dessert Making: By fostering curiosity, students make desserts, learn about the step-by-step process, and experiment with math operations as they measure ingredients.

Forensic Explorers: in this hands-on program, budding detectives are immersed in the exciting world of forensic science and live crime investigation. Through a series of engaging experiments and simulations, kids will solve mock cases, decipher clues, and develop critical thinking skills.

COMIC CREATION: Students will read and analyze a wide variety of comics, learn about the elements of graphic design, and work to get each participant started on their own comic.

INTRODUCTION TO POP/ROCK BAND: Students will learn the basics of pop/rock instruments such as guitar, keyboards, drums, vocals, and will perform/showcase a show at the end of the weekend.

Musical Exploration: students will play a variety of instruments, sing, participate in musical narratives, and create compositions utilizing digital media, delving into rhythm, melody, and harmony throughout the course!

Math Competition Preparation: Designed for students in grades 5-8 who want to deepen their understanding of math concepts and prepare for competitions, this course combines engaging content with an exciting experience exploring challenging problems from the American Mathematics Competition (AMC8).

Robots of the Future: the goal of this course is to help students imagine, build, and code possible future robots that will be used to explore outer space or assist with everyday tasks.

ROCK CLIMBING: Perfect for middle school students and those looking to build a solid foundation in rock climbing, this course learns how to safely and effectively climb with a rope.

Storytelling & Balloon Twisting: This is a bilingual program that uniquely blends storytelling and balloon art. Immerse yourself in fun stories through interactive storytelling and then learn hands-on balloon twisting.

READING WRITING SKILLS ENHANCEMENT: Students will be exposed to a variety of genres in reading and will integrate their reading with the next step in learning writing styles and techniques.

Sustainable Singapore: Students will learn about sustainable development efforts in Singapore and beyond, and learn about sustainable agriculture, renewable energy and other innovations through hands-on learning, individual inquiry and research, and off-campus exploration.

Filmmaking Bootcamp: The course explores the key elements of filmmaking and develops hands-on skills in translating narrative ideas into dynamic visual narratives.

Tufted Threads: students will learn basic techniques for punching needles and using tufting to create various types of crafts such as coasters and tote bags.

Music Production: students will work in teams to plan and create an original music video, using GarageBand for brainstorming, lyrics and different beats to form song ideas, imovie to shoot the music video

Ceramics: students will learn slab building techniques, gain insight into glaze techniques and processes, and have the opportunity to participate in a gallery art show at the end of the course

Physics Summer Camp: Students will delve into the fields of kinematics, mechanics, and other physics through interactive experiments, fascinating challenges, and thrilling demonstrations, and students will have the opportunity to design their own unique spring-force-driven car!

Stock Market Simulation (G8 only): students will learn the fundamentals of supply and demand and apply them to planning their own (simulated) investment portfolio. This class is for students interested in economics, business, or a long-term interest in sustainable wealth building.

All sessions begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. Students will be in class for three seventy-five minute sessions. There are also two daily activity periods which include physical challenges, as well as morning meetings, reflections and lunch.
