Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) is Singapore’s leading arts education provider, dedicated to nurturing creative, talented and professional artists. The NAFA Youth Arts Program offers a series of short-term art classes for children ages 5 to 16 during the school holidays in June and December each year. These programs are designed to stimulate creativity and imagination through fun and enriching art activities. We offer a wide range of courses from craft making, canvas painting, clay modeling, printmaking to caricature drawing to ensure that every participating child can find an area of art that interests them. Personally taught by experienced artists and educators, we are committed to creating a learning environment that is both professional and fun, helping children to grow and develop on their journey of artistic discovery.The NAFA Youth Art Program is a wonderful opportunity for children to spend their vacation not only acquiring new knowledge, but also enjoying the joy of creativity, expanding their international horizons and artistic sensibilities.

Let's Doodle (5 - 7 years old)

Students will learn different painting styles including landscape painting, batik, drip paint and basic painting techniques. They will also use colored paintbrushes to create doodles or cartoon characters, animals and line drawings.

Students will create artifacts and mixed media paintings on canvas inspired by Elmer the Elephant.

Students will visualize and create artwork based on the story “How to Catch a Star.” They will create a star-themed canvas painting, a star plush toy, and a marbling piece.

Students will create artwork inspired by Vincent Van Gogh using primarily acrylic paints and playdough. They will learn about color mixing, blending, and how to create textures with playdough. They will also combine these techniques to create 3D artwork.

Students will draw and create 2D and 3D artwork that can be played with or interacted with. These artifacts include paintings, sculptures, and puzzle making.

Students will use acrylic paints to create artwork on giant canvases while learning about color theory.

Students will create glow in the dark canvas paintings, printed tote bags and mixed media artwork inspired by famous artists.

Students will create their own Pokémon collection in this fun-filled soft clay modeling workshop.

Students will learn sculpting, drawing and design skills. They will learn how to create and design characters using colored soft clay and small canvas paintings of the characters they make.

Students will transfer their creativity to canvas and create different textures and surfaces using mixed art techniques.

Students will have fun learning to build 3D artwork and sculptures using clay and a variety of other objects.

Students will learn how to build and model with a variety of materials, transforming their 2D ideas into 3D artwork, resulting in playable artwork, plush toys, and wire mobile artwork.

Students will use acrylic paints to create artwork on giant canvases while learning about color theory.

Students will create their own collection of functional glow-in-the-dark monsters on canvas, boxes and carriers for Christmas.

Students will learn basic sculpture techniques such as assemblage and clay modeling. They will explore different materials such as clay, paper, recycled materials and fabric to create sculptures.

Students learn the basics of Chinese ink painting and techniques through instruction and demonstration.

The intricate folds of the origami sculptures are skillfully placed within the pages of the three-dimensional book, creating a symphony of movement, color, and surprise. Characters tilt out of the pages, and the juxtaposition of the delicate intricacies of origami and the mechanics of paper engineering add complexity and depth to the narrative.

Students will make shrink plastic art, lava lamps, and slime. They will also learn about the science behind these creations.

Students will learn basic acrylic painting techniques as well as elements of art inspired by famous artists and their work. Become a young acrylic painter and create your own masterpiece.

Students will learn to make handmade toys such as kaleidoscopes, automata toys (kinetic playable toys) and glow-in-the-dark paintings.

Students will learn basic crafts such as pinching pottery, coil making and slab making in order to make bowls, cups and trays from air dry clay. They will also explore different painting techniques for painting on clay, such as dry brushing and texture making.

Students will paint landscapes and nature, as well as realistic and expressive food paintings. They will explore a variety of fun watercolor techniques such as masking fluid, splatters, scratches and salt effects. On the final day, students will paint a Christmas tree in the snow using a variety of techniques.

Students will learn a variety of sketching and watercolor techniques that can be combined to create quick, complete renderings.

Students will learn color mixing and various oil painting techniques to create two landscapes using solvent-free oils.
