Singapore International Olympiad in Mathematics

SASMO, the Singapore International Mathematical Olympiad (SINGAPORE & ASIAN SCHOOLS MATH OLYMPIAD), has been organized by Singapore International Mathematical Competition Center (SIMCC) since its inception in 2006. It has grown to become one of the largest and most powerful mathematics competitions in Asia, attracting more than 20,000 participants from 19 countries. The SASMO certificate is considered one of the most valuable international competition certificates at primary and secondary levels.

Unlike traditional math competitions, SASMO’s questions are designed to be practical and high standard, aiming to unlock the untapped potential of students and to stimulate a mathematician’s mind and higher order thinking skills (HOTS). The competition is aimed at the top 40% of the student population, encouraging them to develop an interest in mathematical problem solving and to develop mathematical intuition, reasoning, logic, creativity and critical thinking skills.

The SASMO competition is designed to rekindle a love of math in every student. It is highly relevant to the school curriculum, focuses on non-traditional problem solving and prepares students for the PSLE and O-Level exams.
